ASUS Eee PC 900 Launched

15 April 2008 - Amid the buzz of reaching a new milestone of 1 million Eee PCs sold in just 5 months after its launch, ASUS has provided yet another round of excitement with its release of the new Eee PC 900. This new generation of the ever popular PC packs in a whole range of hardware that includes a 8.9 inch widescreen, a 1.3M pixels webcam, the new innovative FingerGlide and 12GB and 20GB storage capacities for Windows and Linux platforms respectively. It will be available towards end of April and pricing is yet to be determined.

25 March 2008 - LG today announced the launch of its award winning LG KF600 in Singapore - a new mobile phone that is as feature-rich and easy to use as it is stylish, thanks to its unique touch screen interface. ASUS Revealed 8.9-inch Eee PC 900@ CeBIT

4 March 2008 - ASUS has made several innovative improvements with the next generation of the Eee PC – dubbed the Eee PC 900. These new technologies will bring about a brand new concept for Internet access with 1G of memory, larger storage of up to 12GB, and wider 8.9-inch screens. These new Eee PCs will cost 399 Euro each, and will be available in summer this year – to select countries on the first wave of launch. All of these new models will be Windows ready, and will provide users with a chance to enjoy a brand new PC experience while on the go.

New line of UMPC offerings from Asus in 5,7 and 9 inch flavors

3 March 2008 - Asus will be rolling out three new UMPCs in sizes of 5.6, 7 and 9 inch to cater to consumers with different needs. These UMPCs will be positioned away from the Asus EEEPC line, and will promise better specifications and performance compared to the Triple E, with features like built-in GPS, biometric identification and HSDPA connectivity.

ASUS To Launch "Eee PC Touch" In Q2

26 March 2008 - DigiTimes today ran a story on the 8.9" 2nd gen Eee PC lineup that includes touchscreen panel and possible GPS support, with shipments expected to begin in May or June. Pricing is projected to reach NT$15,000 (US$500). VR-Zone learned that this new series of Eee PC with touch screen functions will be known as "Eee PC touch" like Apple's naming for iPod touch. GPS support is still under discussion so it may or may not happen. The pricing for Europe is set at €399.

Acer To Offer Cheaper 8.9-inch "EeePC" In Q2

25 March 2008 - DigiTimes reported that Acer is pricing its 8.9" low cost PC about US$50 lower than the upcoming ASUS 2nd gen. 8.9" Eee PC. FOB price of its Acer low-cost PC is at ~US$250-300, while the market ASP is ~US$350-400. In comparison, FOB price of its ASUS 2nd. gen. Eee PC is at ~US$300-350, while the market ASP is ~US$400-50. ASUS might launch its 8.9" Eee PCs earlier in April this year while Acer low-cost PC slated for launch in May. However, the specs of the Acer solution is unclear yet but the 8.9" Eee PC 900 is supposed to be powered by the upcoming Intel Atom processor.

Lenovo Unveiled ThinkPad X300 Notebook

27 February 2008 - Lenovo today unveiled its highly-anticipated ThinkPad X300 notebook PC, designed for today's most demanding road warriors, and the thinnest and lightest full-function notebook in its class1. The ultra-thin, ultraportable ThinkPad X300 notebook measures less than 19 millimetres at its thinnest point, and has a starting weight as low as 1.33kg2. The ThinkPad X300 notebook starts at SGD 4,412. It is available immediately through Lenovo business partners.
