It is apparent that DV Tapes will become a thing of the past soon, with so many new High Definition (HD) enabled Camcorders being introduced into the market at an accelerated rate. Canon launched the HR 10 and HG 10 Digital Camcorders at the event, with both camcorders being able to record at the full HD resolutions of 1080P. At the same time, Canon will also be launching a whole new HD Film Festival Contest to replace their yearly DV Film Festival that they used to hold.

The HR 10 Digital Camcorder utilizes conventional 8cm DVDs for recording, and is able to record up to 108minutes of HD content when using a DVD-R Dual Layer (DL) Disc. At 530g, the HR 10 is one of the lightest HD capable Camcorder available in the market today. The HR 10 & HG 10 are both able to reach frame rates of 25fps on PAL and 24fps on NTSC mode.

The HG-10 Digital Camcorder is equipped with a 40GB 1.8" HDD that allows you to record up to 5.5 hours of high-definition footages or 12 hours of standard definition video. Utilizing H.264 codec, the video footages are sufficiently compressed without taking a hit on the video quality.
